How to disable “friend added a photo” and “friend updated their status” on Facebook Mobile

Posted on July 8, 2017July 8, 2017 by admin

Facebook is jarring enough without it bombarding you about when your friends do something that have nothing to do with you. Notifications are sacred red circles of action, and if it doesn’t involve me directly, it’s not something I want. At all.

Here’s how to disable it on the iPhone/iPad/Android version of Facebook as of the time of writing:

  1. Click the “three bars” tab called “more” for some options.
  2. Scroll down and choose “Settings”.
  3. Choose Account Settings from the popup.
  4. Choose notifications.
  5. Choose “mobile”.
  6. Scroll down to the bottom and you’ll see your latest post notifications. Simple tap the notifications that having nothing to do with you, and you’ll see sentences like “we’ve removed notifications from ‘Friends Update Status’ or ‘Friend posts a photo’. Be careful not to tap too many things here, as you could disable notifications that you actually do like.

That’s it! This has been a thorn in my side for at least two years. Please share the love!
